Required documents: (all documents must be certified translated into Spanish)

  • Filled and signed application form
  • A decent scan copy of passport of your non-EU citizenship country (valid for six months beyond the expiry date of the visa)
  • 2 passport photos in colour
  • A notarised document explaining your reason for the application (purpose, place and length of stay)
  • At least €2151 per month or hold €25,816 in savings
  • +additional €6,778 for each family member you plan to bring with you
  • Filled out authorization form M790 C052
  • Proof of private Spanish health insurance valid for at least a year
  • Clean criminal record from your home country or country of previous residency (translated into Spanish and have an apostille stamp)
  • A medical certificate of good health
  • Receipt of payment of €140 for your visa application


Other requirements:
The main requirement is not to be employed by a Spanish company or employer.
If you want to renew the residence permit, you should not be absent from the country more than 6 months per year.

Process:
  • Get the appointment in the nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate
  • Prepare all required documents translated and notarised
  • Submit your documents in person in the Embassy
  • Get a response in 2-3 months
  • If approved, collect your visa in person at the Spanish Embassy where you applied at
  • travel to Spain and replace your Visa with a residency card within 90 days.

The newly announced Spanish Visa for digital nomads was created specially for foreign remote workers. It fits for employees from Non-European Economic Area (EEA) countries, who can prove that they are hired for remote work using telecommunication technologies.

Who can apply:
  • freelancers or entrepreneurs with less than 20% of income from Spanish clients
  • full time employers hired by foreign companies, with the proved ability to work remotely
Requirements:
  • Proof of remote work for at least a year
  • Proof that the work can be carried out remotely
  • If under contract to a company, proof of professional relationship with the company for at least three months and proof that the company permits remote working
  • If freelance, proof of work with at least one company outside Spain and provision the terms and conditions of the remote work.
Benefits:
  • allows to stay in Spain for up to 5 years
  • holders will have an access for a reduced rate of non-resident income tax. Instead of the usual rate of 25%, it will be just 15% (for up to four years)
